What does Formation for Children look like at St. B's?
Children’s Formation at St. B’s is about cultivating an environment in which God and the child grow in a deep, joyful relationship with one another. Through the reading of Scripture, singing, corporate and individual prayer practice, and shared service experiences, children are supported by their church family as they learn of the wideness of God's mercy and love.
This begins in the nursery with our babies and toddlers being rocked, played with, and prayed for. Our 3–9 year olds experience the joy of relationship with Jesus through Scripture, liturgy, and community in our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atriums. Our 4th–6th graders grow in their trust of God by hearing God’s call on people’s lives in the Scriptures. They also begin to listen for how God might be calling them to participate in the coming of the Kingdom. We gather, September through May, at 10 a.m. We also have a children’s homily during the service for children 4 yrs and older and have many special events throughout the year.
